Designing the Technology Infrastructure for
the new Experimental Sciences Building
Texas Tech University's new $37 million Experimental
Sciences Building is a multidisciplinary research facility
providing 127,810 square feet of new laboratories, faculty
offices and support space. Flexible technology infrastructure
and systems enable the work of students and researchers in
biology, chemical engineering, plant and soil sciences, animal
and food sciences, computer sciences, economics and geography,
biotechnology and imaging.
One particularly notable component of
the Experimental Sciences Building is the Virtual Reality
Center. Vantage helped the University and the architectural
team to develop a highly flexible computer visualization facility
to support the University's work in biological and geospatial
information systems. The facility's architectural design and
infrastructure systems are designed to accommodate the widest
possible range of sophisticated graphical rendering and immersive
imaging systems.
